Cllr David McBride has attacked the Tory hypocrisy on planning

Liberal Democrat Leader Cllr David McBride accused Bromley's Tories of "gross hypocrisy" over their actions to support a Planning Bill aimed to protect back gardens.

Cllr David McBride supported the actions in the Council debate, but pointed out that a Tory councillor had recently tried to sell his property so that his back garden could be built on!

"The nerve of some of these Tory councillors is unbelievable," Cllr McBride said. "They want to protect back gardens, which is a good thing. But they seem to think that they can protect other people's gardens from developers while selling their own. How hypocritical is that? Their line seems to be to protect gardens unless they themselves can make a few quid from the sale." said Cllr McBride.

A Conservative councillor had recently tried to get planning permission from the Council to erect houses in the back garden of his property. The application was turned down at a Council Planning Committee.
