Liberal Democrat councillors for Biggin Hill, Cllr Geoff Gostt and Cllr Bob Shekyls, have welcomed the news announced by Bromley Council that a 'leisure facility' will be provided in Biggin Hill in the next few years, but warned that local residents will need persuading that vague promises will materialise.

Cllr Bob Shekyls commented, "Any extra facility here will be welcome. The local residents felt badly let down by the Tories in 2002 when they cancelled the swimming pool project. I hope that the Council can deliver the goods this time."

"We have constantly pressed the Council for some sort of leisure facility in Biggin Hill," said Cllr Geoff Gostt. "However, the promises given tonight were vague and non specific. A lot of hard work went in from the local community to raise funds for the swimming pool - hard work which was then destroyed by the Tories when they cancelled the project. We are waiting with interest to see what they come up with this time."
