Waldens Farm action "late but welcome"

7.16.23pm GMT Wed 8th Jun 2005

Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr David McBride, has welcomed Bromley Council's action to remove some caravans from Waldens Farm.

However Cllr McBride, whose Cray Valley East Ward covers Waldens Farm and the residential area nearby, said that the Council should have acted long ago on the issue.

"It is absolutely right that the Council has taken this action against illegal occupation of the Green Belt" said Cllr McBride. "The caravans did not have planning permission and the occupants did not appeal against the refusal. However, this action should have been taken a long time ago. Residents in the area have been constantly frustrated by the lack of action politically to deal with this problem. I'm glad that the pressure the residents and local councillors have been putting on the Council has now produced some action. There is still a long way to go though and further action may well be needed."
