Simon Hughes visits Biggin Hill Heritage Centre site11.44.21am GMT Fri 13th Feb 2004
Liberal Democrat London mayoral candidate Simon Hughes visited the RAF Chapel of Remembrance in Biggin Hill, near where it is hoped to establish the Heritage Centre. The Centre is intended to give the story of the airfield from its beginnings in 1916 to the present day. With Simon were Bexley and Bromley Lib Dem London Assembly candidate Duncan Borrowman, local Lib Dem leader Cllr Chris Maines and top European parliament candidate Jonathan Fryer - who is a former Chelsfield councillor. They met with local Biggin Hill councillors Geoff Gostt and Bob Shekyls. Bob who is a member of the Council's Biggin Hill Heritage working party introduced Josie Cole who is the Chair of the Biggin Hill Society and also attends the Biggin Hill Heritage Working Party meetings. At the invitation of Mr Sandhu Simon was also able to see the former Officers Mess which is a listed building.
