Improve works monitoring say Lib Dems

Cllr David McBride

A Liberal Democrat councillor has warned that the Council is being let down by its contractors, and called for Bromley to improve its monitoring of the companies that work on the Borough's roads and pavements.

Deputy Leader, Cllr David McBride, said that many areas of the Borough now looked shoddy and untidy where contractors had stored materials and not cleared away properly. In some cases grass verges have been damaged and rubble was still left by the roadside.

Giving an example from his own ward of Cray Valley East, Cllr David McBride said that the grass verges along Cray Avenue were now waist high in some places. "Work was finished in Cray Avenue at the start of the year, yet there are still cones and rubble in the grass verges. Because of this the grass cannot be cut properly and there are now waist high bushes along the road. The Council must get its act together in monitoring these contractors so that they leave our Borough the way that our residents expect."
