Tory talk on crime is "all hot air and no action"

Bromley's Tories have been attacked by the Liberal Democrats for their record on dealing with crime and community safety.

While the Police are having some success in reducing crime in the Borough, the Tories seem to be doing very little. The Community Safety Portfolio Holder for Bromley has cancelled his next meeting and the Council's Forward Plan shows that he is not due to take any key decisions on the Council's fight against crime and anti-social behaviour in the next few months.

The Liberal Democrat Community Safety spokesperson, Cllr Brenda Thompson, has said that this proves that Tory talk on crime is "all hot air and no action."

"While the Tories spend their time blaming everybody else for Bromley's crime and disorder problems they seem to have forgotten who is running the Council. We all agree that the Government and GLA need to give us more Police in the Borough but there needs to be local action as well. Cancelling meetings which should decide on action to be taken is no way to cut the local problems," Cllr Thompson commented.
